Donut Tasting :: Trying the Best Donuts in Spokane, Washington

Wedding planning is officially back on! My business blew up (in the best kind of way) this summer so I had told Evan I needed to hit the pause button on any wedding details until our vacay to Loon Lake. Which just so happened to coincide with a lot of my design projects launching. Alas, we just wrapped out trip to the lake so planning is officially back on.

While on the east side, we had an amazing engagement photo session with Hannah Acheson. Seriously, I can’t even say enough great things about her already! I am sooo not a mushy person and can be so awkward in front of the camera, soooo admittedly I was very anxious about that shoot. It ended up being SO fun though and Hannah made it so easy. She picked out the perfect spot, seriously it was outdoorsy, so many backgrounds and had gorgeous scenery…. She sent us a few sneak peeks already and omgg… we’re obsessed! You can check out a few she sent us on my Insta!

So that was definitely an exciting part of getting back to planning. Then the next thing on my priority list while we were in the area was donut tasting! If you know me… you know I loveeee me some donuts (and so does Evan) so they’ll definitely be making an appearance at our celebration. After doing a little research, we decided to try 4 different places.

Hello Sugar

Hello Sugar was our first stop and omg, this place was so adorbs! It was in this cute new development in Kendall Yards that kind of came out of nowhere when we were driving. It’s right inside this lovely coffee shop too. All of the Insta-worthy vibes for sure! They specialize in mini donuts and just the aesthetic alone… they are SO cute! I mean… look at them! They had lots of different flavors and we were recommended to try their carousel so we could try a little bit of everything — which was a good call for sure! The perfect bite-size of flavor!

Donut Parade

Donut Parade was our next stop and boy did they deliver on the tasty factor! This spot had kind of a donut diner vibe which I totally loved. I also loved their cute donut mural on the inside, you know I’m a sucker for these types of things. Of course, the real important part is the donuts though… which were BOMB! Seriously, we all really LOVED all of the options we tried here (there were 5 of us doing our tasting). They all just had such great texture and really packed a punch in the flavor department.

Casual Friday Donuts

Our last stop for day one was Casual Friday Donuts! The first thing we noticed when we pulled up is they had an announcement about doing weddings on their sign – which was good to know since that’s exactly the reason we checking out all of the donut spots! I really liked this spot too because they had some funky and unique flavors like their Butterfinger and their Double Chocolate. Definitely some more gourmet type flavors!

Retro Donuts

Our last stop on our donut tasting tour was Retro Donuts! We actually had to split our tasting into two days because they were closed by the time we made it out the first day. We weren’t early risers on vacay 😂 Alas, I made it there the next day and they were worth the wait! They’re all about keeping things classic and they do it right! We all really loved the varieties we tried – especially their seasonal huckleberry options. So delicious!

So which did we decide were our favs?! You’ll have to wait and see at our wedding! Yep, I really did that. Real talk though, we have a lot to consider because all places offered such delicious options! So if you’re looking for a sweet treat in the Spokane area, definitely check them all out! And also, if you’re planning a wedding do your own donut tasting because this was definitely my fav part of planning so far 😉
