Labor Day Weekend
Anna Osgoodby Life + Design :: Labor Day Weekend

Did you guys have a nice holiday weekend? I sure hope so! Can I start by saying I think every weekend should be a 3-day weekend?! Am I right or am I right? Personally I think it's the perfect break off for the work week!

I had a lot of fun this weekend! It was the perfect combination of having some fun, getting some things taken care of and adventure :)

I kicked off the weekend by heading to a Yankees game with my friend Lynette and Chris. Chris had an extra ticket so he was nice enough to let me bring a friend and get this is was her first Yankees game! Which wouldn't be that unheard of but she grew up on Long Island so it was really awesome she got to come along. And of course... I tried to give her the full baseball game experience complete with garlic cheesies and some other fabulous stadium food.

Saturday was a little bit more of a chill day. Cue apartment errands, lots of cleaning and other unphotographable moments... they had to get done though! All in preparation for Saturday night which was another sports moment... The first Oregon Ducks football game! To celebrate, Chris and I had a nice little BBQ on the balcony and relaxed while watching the late-night (PST times are killer on the east coast) game.

On Sunday we added some adventure to the weekend by heading out to Long Island and to the beach! One of Chris' friends got a new boat so we got to take it for a spin and head over to Fire Island to Davis Park. Once we made it towards the beach I had my first wade to the beach experience of hopping out of the boat and walking up to the shore. I've never done that before so I can check that off my bucket list!

I hadn't been to the Davis part of Fire Island before either so another something that was new!

It was a really nice and relaxing day at the beach. We met up with some of Chris' family and friends at the beach too so we had a lot of fun! I may have gotten a little lobster status, but it's nothing a little aloe can't clear up!

We waded back to the boat with some other friends on the way back. There was a couple of feisty crabs along the way so note to self.. be careful where you walk when you do that!

For the rest of the evening we enjoyed some downtime with Chris' parents and headed out for another Long Island treat, rum buckets! In true Anna fashion I was the slowest to finish my drink, but they sure were tasty! The bar was right along the water which was pretty cool too.

Before we headed back into the city on Monday we stopped by the most adorable little ice cream parlor in Bellport called Carla Marla's.

They had some seriously awesome looking flavors and their cuteness factor was definitely on point ;-) I went for a malt with their cannoli ice cream! Definitely recommend. They even had a cute little place to park your pooch and doggie ice cream!

And that's a wrap! Can I stay in vacation mode forever?

Red, White & Pool Floaties

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! I know I sure did, can we press rewind? I headed out east for the long weekend for a little family, relaxation and FLOATIE time!! Oh yessss.

I've been dying to use my donut floaties I picked up during my trip to Washington and the time came this weekend to bust out these cuties for some quality pool time.

I can't say weenie was totally excited about the idea at first, but I think he realized that I wasn't going to make him swim in the pool (he didn't love that experience last summer) he warmed up to the idea and we floated around the pool all afternoon.

To celebrate the holiday we got our red, white and blue on and headed to Southampton. I'd never been before and it's been a long tradition to go to the 4th of July parade in Chris' family so that was neat to be apart of!

On our way to the parade we passed... what do you know... a floaty shop that was seriously up on its game! Floaty envy!

Scoots decided he liked the Hamptons too... especially if he got to live in one of the places below. Keep dreaming Scooter ;-)

To celebrate the rest of the weekend we headed to a delicious family BBQ that let to an inevitable food coma and we had a little bit more time visiting before it was time to head back to the city again. Hope you all had nice weekends too!

Scooter Turns 12!

Scooter's Birthday happened during the redesign so I'm playing a little bit of catch-up on this one, but the pup only turns 12 once! Besides, a light puppy post (he'll always be a puppy to me) is totally acceptable for a Monday right?! Scooter says yes ;-)

This little guy couldn't have had a better birthday celebration out of the city on Long Island! While we certainly got lucky with some outdoor space at our current apartment, he doesn't exactly get to have free-range of a backyard all that often so he's pretty excited when he does.

He got a lot of quality outdoor time in making laps around the pool and yard and rolling around in the grass!

We were also planning on going to a BBQ with Chris' family so Chris had the idea of making a birthday cake for Scooter since we needed to bring something and it was his birthday. Plus, he's been talking about this cake frosting that his grandma used to make for the whole time I've known him but so he kind of tied all those ideas into one.

The funny part about this frosting, that he literally always tells me about, is that we found out that it's the recipe on the side of the Domino Sugar box. Just some good old buttercream! Does anyone remember that Friends episode with the Toll House cookies? Because this totally reminded me of that! So it turns out that the recipe might not be a family legacy haha.. but either way it was really delicious :) They did a really great job of decorating the cake too!

Scoots was less excited about the pics than the actual cake, but let's just say the little guy got his fair share of table-scraps over the weekend.

Especially at the BBQ! He was on the hunt for anything anyone dropped or that he could put his cute face on and convince someone into giving him something. Who can say no to his little face though? Not me clearly.

It was such a fun weekend and I think Scootie had a really fun time too! He didn't want to come back!

Here's to hopefully many more birthdays with this little guy! :) He's going to keep up with his Scootie sprints so he can try and go for the oldest weenie dog record!
